What is Skeletal Lightning and what do you do?
Skeletal Lightning is a independent label releasing music from some of the best bands in the Midwest and beyond. We aim to extend our passion of music and art by releasing music we love to the many fine folks like you that care. We greatly appreciate your support!
Can I submit a demo?
All of our releases are hand picked and delicately planned. Unfortunately, we don't accept demo submissions. Keep doing your thing, though, and we may be in touch!
I’m interested in carrying your releases in my store/distro. Do you offer wholesale rates?

How long does it take to receive my order?
All orders will typically be shipped within 3 business days. During times such as holidays and big sales events, orders may take a bit longer to ship out. Either way, you’ll receive an e-mail notification the moment your order has shipped, which contains a tracking number in which you can track the progress of your package. Please note that this time accounts for only order fulfillment and not actual shipping and transit times (see below).
Please note that pre-order items do not ship immediately, and all items ordered along with a pre-order item will be held until the pre-order item is ready to ship. See below for more info on pre-orders.
The time your order spends in transit will depend on the method of shipping you choose at checkout. Each option does include tracking at no additional cost to you.
First Class* -- Lightweight items (under 16 oz - tapes, 7"s, t-shirts) have the ability to ship via First Class Mail (3-5 day delivery).
Media Mail -- The cheapest and most economical option for anything above 15 oz (up to 14 day delivery).
Priority Mail -- All items can be shipped priority, which is the quickest option if you're in a hurry (2-3 day delivery) .
*Please note - all items over 15 oz will be shipped via Media Mail due to weight restrictions for First Class shipments.
For international customers:
FedEx Standard Int'l -- This is our most economical international option, but delivery can take up to 6 weeks. No tracking is available, and as a result, any lost or stolen packages are not able to be replaced. High value orders are highly recommended to use USPS First Class International as their shipping method.
First Class International -- Delivery can take anywhere from 2-3 weeks. Delivery Confirmation is provided.
Where is my order?
If you've placed an order with us and have yet to receive a package (see answer above for shipping times), there are a few things to double check first before writing in:
Does your order contain a pre-order item? You can check that by looking at each item's product page in the store. There will be an estimated shipping date on the product page or detailed in your order confirmation email for those items. (More info on pre-orders below).
If your order does not contain a pre-order item, check for a shipping notification email sent from Skeletal Lightning. Sometimes this email will be in your spam folder. It is sent when your order has officially shipped from Skeletal Lightning HQ, and contains a tracking number to track the delivery of your order.
If your order doesn't contain a pre-order item and you haven't received your shipping notification email yet, check your shipping method. International orders can take extra time to process due to the extra steps needed to send a package.
If you are in the US and none of the above applies, please send us an email at firstname.lastname@example.org with your order number and a message about your issue and we'll get back to you as soon as we can, usually within 1-2 business days, to get your order sorted out.
I need to update my address or cancel my order.
No problem, simply shoot us an email at email@example.com with your order number and a brief description of your request and we'll see right to it! Before getting in touch, please note that we do try to pack and ship orders as quickly as possible, so please reach out as soon as you can. Orders that have already been shipped are unable to be cancelled.
We offer returns/exchanges on damaged or defective items within 60 days of purchase. Please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org with a picture of the damaged item, a brief description of the damage, and your order number and we'll be happy to try and work something out with you.
What is a pre-order?
Pre-orders provide you fine folks with the opportunity to reserve a copy of a release, usually the most limited version, before the record is officially released. Keep in mind that items labeled as pre-orders typically do not ship right away, as they are often still in production. All additional items included in your order will be held until the pre-order item is ready to ship. An estimated ship date is provided at the top of each pre-order page, although due to the nature of manufacturing, that date is only an estimate.
We promise that we will get your pre-order out the door as soon as humanly possible once we actually receive the product. In any case, keep up to date about the progress of each release by following us online via social media.
How do you pack your orders?
Rest assured knowing that every single order is shipped with love and care. LPs are shipped in a sturdy LP mailer with vinyl placed outside of the jacket (when applicable) to prevent seam splits and tears, with cardboard inserts to protect your precious records during shipping. Cassettes are shipped in strong, sturdy cardboard mailers to prevent any damage during shipment. All orders also come with some sort of freebie or another, be it a sticker, poster, or patch.
If you happen to receive a damaged item in your order, feel free to get in touch and pass along the documented damage (photos of shipping materials, and item(s) damaged) and we'll follow up with a plan of action to make it right. (email@example.com)
Do you ship internationally?
Yes, we ship worldwide!
We offer two different shipping options for those outside of the US:
FedEx Standard Int'l - this is our cheapest option for international customers, with rates up to 60% off most international postage. This service does not provide tracking, and can take up to 6 weeks for delivery. Any packages that are lost or stolen are unfortunately not able to be replaced. If you plan on order something of high value, we highly suggest using USPS First Class International shipping. Please note that this shipping method may take an additional 5-7 business days to process before shipping out.
USPS First Class International - includes delivery confirmation and can take 2-3 weeks for delivery.
For most Skeletal Lightning releases, downloads will be delivered via email once your order ships out. Any distributed items usually contain a separate physical download code. Releases up for pre-order are generally not available for download until roughly a week before the release date. Downloads are not available on mobile devices.
